Quality Engineer, Lubbock, TX

Our Fire Protection Products Client is currently hiring a Quality Engineer (MFG. Engineer II) to work in their Lubbock Texas location. 

The Quality Engineer will develop, evaluate and improve quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products. The QE will be responsible for the initiation and the continuous improvement of processes and procedures relating to established quality assurance and external agency testing, data acquisition and analysis, product and process audits, gauge calibration, and evaluation of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products within a manufacturing facility. This person will also be responsible for maintaining and improving processes and procedures within the Quality Management System to ensure ongoing approvals by ISO and other external audit groups.

  • Review and improve processes of test, audit, and calibration.
  • Coordinate and direct the training and improvement input of product/process auditors, calibration technicians, and lab test technicians.
  • Review and improve data collection and analysis capability for quality related data.
  • Support process improvement and new product introduction processes that are led by factory support engineers.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Preferred candidate should have a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or engineering technology majoring in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering.
  • Preferred candidates will possess the required educational background and at least 5 years’ experience as Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineer or Test Engineer in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Six Sigma and/or Lean certification a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Must have experience and/or have received training in ISO 9001-2000 or ISO 9001-2008 and be familiar with maintaining ISO compliance standards.
  • Documentation of ISO compliant quality management procedures. Certification as ISO internal auditor.
  • Data acquisition and analysis tools such as database development, SQL, and SAP.
  • Coordination of calibration and test activities.  Test process development and automation.
  • Project management skills with mathematical and analytical experience.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing and be able to read and write business policies, procedures, general business periodicals, manuals, blueprints and other correspondence.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
